How to Rip and Convert DVD to iTunes on Mac

Apple has allowed iTunes to read only one video format – MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v). So this means that if you want the DVD to go into iTunes and play across all other Apple devices(iPod, iPhone, iPad), you need to rip DVD to iTunes video format.

How to Rip and Convert DVD to iTunes format on Mac OS?

Step1. Load DVD

Put your DVD into the optical drive of your Mac. Drag-and-drop or simply click "load DVD" icon on the left panel to input DVD files.

Step 2. Select the output format

After the loading of DVD files, choose the output format and output folder. To copy DVD to iTunes, you can choose the output format as M4V, MP4 or MOV, which are highly supported by iTunes.

After making all necessary settings, click the "Convert " button to start to convert DVD to iTunes format on Mac.

Now the easy part… drag the files into the iTunes window! iTunes will automatically add it to your library.
You can access the file by going to the ‘Movies’ sidebar of your iTunes window. From here you can double click on the movie and watch it whenever you want.

Optional: Syncing to iPod/iPhone

If you would like to sync this movie to your iPod/iPhone, click the device on the sidebar of your iTunes window. The information window for this device will now pop up. From here, click on the ‘Movies’ tab at the top. You can tick to sync all movies, or just the particular one that you have ripped. Click apply, and your device will synchronize.
